Purified Church

What is Three Strands?

Three Strands is a non-denominational, Christian Church, in the West Simpsonville/Mauldin area that’s dedicated to destroying negative stereotypes about church.  At Three Strands the messages aren’t boring, the music is cool, the dress is casual (we save our good t-shirts for Sunday) and nobody gets extra points for pretending to be perfect.  At Three Strands we’re interested in people and our priority is helping you develop a relationship with the God who loves you and meaningful relationships with the rest of His kids.

Our Name:

At first glance Three Strands might look like a strange name for a church but we like it for two really important reasons:
  1. It’s Biblical – Ecclesiastes 4:12 says that a cord of three strands is not easily broken.
  2. It’s a symbol for what we’re all about – helping people get tied into God, community and a greater purpose.

So this week why not come tie one on at Three Strands?!

Disclaimer…
It has come to our attention that some of you may have been confused when we invited you to “tie one on” at Three Strands. To help clear things up here’s a list of stuff you WON’T need at Three Strands:
  • A valid ID
  • Visine
  • A designated driver
  • Headache powders
Three Strands would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and we would like to remind you…If you are going to do church, do it responsibly!

Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of 3Strands is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation.

Music

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of 3Strands, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

Greeters

The Greeting team arrives at church early to make sure that all materials for vistors are in place and they are ready to welcome everyone who steps through the doors.  This ministry is fairly easy to do but its significance is enormous.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of 3Strands. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our Faith Life page which is linked under the Sermons tab. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.

Children’s Church

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, 3Strands holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles.

Small Groups

3Strands is always in the process of establishing new small groups to meet in peoples homes throughout the week.  If you are interested in hosting a group or leading a group we would love to talk to you!

How Do I Meet People?

3Strands is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at 3Strands.

Sunday Morning Adult Bible Study

Join us for in-depth Bible study and great fellowship on Sunday mornings at 9:00AM at the Church. We’re just beginning a verse by verse study of the book of James. It’s a great time to jump in.

Youth Ministry

Each Sunday morning, children get to participate in their own classes. Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every child gets to participate and learn. Each of the class teachers is carefully screened and thoroughly trained in children’s instruction.

Young Adults

Life can get complicated once you cross that nebulous threshold into adulthood. There are complicated decisions. Bigger stakes. Serious relationships. And a whole lot more decisions. The Forge is our young adult group at 3Strands and it provides a welcoming atmosphere for college and early-career aged young people.  The Forge meets Sunday evenings at 6pm.

Women’s Group

3Strands Women’s Group gives the ladies in our church family special times of interaction. Our women’s groups are times of Bible study, prayer (and, of course, food). These groups provide a refreshing discipleship opportunity for the women in the church.  Check the calendar for their next meet.

Men’s  Group

The men’s group meets the third Saturday of each month and not only do we tear into some awesome food we dig into God’s Word and discover how to walk as a man of God.  Check the calendar for their next meeting.

Prayer Group

This group meets on the first Sunday of each month from 7 to 8:30pm for worship and prayer. (check the calendar for any changes.)

Core Values

God

We are committed to honoring God in all that we say and do and to presenting an accurate picture of who He is and what He has done.  To accomplish that we put a ton of emphasis on:

  • Authentic Worship (We may not be flashy, but we’re real)
  • Biblical Teaching (We’re all about teaching God’s Word in relevant ways that will make sense to you.)
  • Prayer
  • Helping people understand and experience the transforming love of Christ.

People

Everybody matters to God.  How do we know that?  He sent Jesus to live, die and rise again so that we could know Him and be in a relationship with Him.  Because of that we think everyone is valuable and we are sold out to:

  • Meeting people wherever they are and sharing the love of Christ with them in relevant ways.
  • Teaching people how to be in right relationships with other people at work, home, church and in the world.
  • Helping people connect with God’s desire for their lives.
  • Showing people just how cool it is to be tied into God, especially when life gets rough.
  • Standing by people even when life is hard or they make mistakes.

Mission

We are committed to helping people discover their gifts for ministry and helping them to find places to use those gifts in and around the church.

What to Expect

Most people don’t go to church because the people aren’t real, the music is from the 50′s (1850′s), the sermons make them paranoid about a possible sleep disorder they might be developing, and religious, judgmental types make ‘em nervous.

It is our hope that at Three Strands you will find something different….a different kind of church!

A place where people believe that God has a sense of humor, they actually encounter Him and where they will always feel free to come as they are – imperfections and all.

Our Children’s ministry team is committed to shining Jesus’ love so that your child can experience God’s love, learn about His word, and grow up in Christ! Our SonShine Park Volunteers are the “BEST!”

Bringing children to Christ Encouraging children to follow Jesus Showing God’s Love Teaching God’s Word

SONSHINE PARK(Elementary)

At Sonshine Park our kids are active participants in learning who God is, developing a real relationship with Jesus, and learning to follow him.  If you drop in our class, you will rarely see your child just sitting as someone talks to them. What you will see is your child learning while he act out a part in a drama or becomes a quiz show contestant.  Pr she may be competing with her team mates in a game or making a craft.  You will probably see him discussing questions or praying in a small group.  Whatever the activity, you can be sure your child will be having fun while learning about God’s great love for us and how to follow Him!  Our elementary children begin in the worship service with their parents and then are dismissed to class prior to the sermon time.

SONSHINE PLAYGROUND (K4-K5)  & SONSHINE PLAYHOUSE (2 & 3′s)

Children in these classes learn about the Bible and God’s love through a variety of structured play activities, stories, music, puppets, & art.  The Bible truth for the day is reinforced through out all the activities.  Since children at this age learn best through hands-on activities, we provide lots of opportunities to experience learning about God.  Our kids learn foundational Bible truths and Bible stories as they discover that church is a fun place to come and encounter God!

SONSHINE GARDEN (Infants)

We believe your child is a precious blessing from God.  Therefore, we make every effort to provide a loving and safe place for your child to experience God’s love.  Our teachers are well trained and are highly committed to providing consistent, quality care for your child.  Each month our nursery has a Bible theme and your little one will experience music, activities, pictures & stories based on that theme.  Children are never too young to learn about God’s love for them!

BEYOND SONSHINE PARK

Sunday morning is our time to focus on worshiping God and growing in Him. While worship is the most important thing we do, it is not all we do. Our children’s ministry also includes special activities during the year, including Kids’ night out (Summer), Easter celebration, “Light of the World” night, Christmas Nativity pageant, discipleship classes, and special family events. These opportunities aim to build relationships with other Christian friends and caring adults, encourage living out our faith, strengthen families, and encourage children to bring friends to church activities. Oh yeah, we have lots of fun too!

Security at SonShine Park

Children in all classes are signed in by parents and are only released to their parents. Parents of children age 0 through kindergarten age are given numbered security tags which must be turned in to pick up your child. Your number will appear on the worship screen if your child needs you during the service.   Our lead teachers are well trained and committed to teaching on a monthly rotation in order to provide continuity and opportunities to develop relationships.

Men’s Group

The men’s group meets at the church on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 am to 11 am for breakfast and a time of study. The breakfast is delicious and the study is even better! Our current study is on the book of Proverbs. For more information, Contact Mike Decker

About

ABOUT THERAPY

Individual, couples, child/parent, and family counseling as well as school consultation and in-home therapy is provided.  A cognitive-behavioral approach with a Christian perspective is used for most therapy.  It is based on the belief that our thoughts affect our feelings and behaviors.  The therapist’s role in therapy is to listen, encourage, and teach you. Your role is to express concerns, learn and then to implement that learning.  Counseling sessions are very much like a “coaching’ session. The real hard work is often done in between the sessions.  The goal is that eventually you will earn to apply the techniques yourself and become your own coach.  Counseling with children is viewed as a collaborative approach between the child, therapist, parents and significant caregivers/teachers and therefore includes significant others in the therapy process.

ABOUT FEES:

Session fees are as follows:

  • Initial Session (80 minutes)       $80.00
  • Individual session (50 minutes) $60.00
  • Family/Couple (80 minutes)       $80.00

**We offer a $25.00 discount for sessions scheduled between 8am and 2pm on Monday-Friday.  Our counseling services are a ministry of Three Strands Christian church, which not only enables us to charge a lower full-fee rate than most therapists, but also allows us to offer limited reduced fee sessions for those with financial hardships.  We will accept cash or checks, payment is due at each session.  We do not accept insurance payments.  There is a $30 charge for missed appointments if not cancelled in advance.

ABOUT THE THERAPIST

All services are provided by Kathleen Decker, LISW-CP.  Mrs. Decker received her masters degree in Social Work in 1995 from the University of TN.  She has been licensed for independent practice for over 10 years and has helped many individuals, families and children in mental health centers, school systems as well as private practice.

WHAT NOW?

It is important to us- and even more important for you- that our services are a good fit for you.  So that we (and you) can decide if our services will be helpful to you before committing to an initial session, we provide a free 15 minute phone consultation.  You may call or e-mail our office today to set it up.  For more detailed information about the counseling services please see the Client information page.

Share The Gospel!

3 Strands is excited about sharing the gospel and we post our sermons each week on our Faith Life page.  Check out some past messages under the sermons tab and share some with your friends.
